Salvation comes through an on going relationship with our Lord and God Jesus Christ. Before we can enter into a relationship with Him we must understand the following: Jesus is Lord, Jesus is the Son of God, Jesus is God Manifest in the flesh, Jesus is the Spirit of God robed in flesh, Jesus is the Word and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us. Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins, defeated death and rose from the dead on the 3rd day. If we truly believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and we believe His Word, we will be obedient to it and follow the plan to salvation in order to enter into a relationship with Him.
How to enter into a relationship with Jesus.
There Jesus stood with people lines up by the hundreds and even the thousands waiting to be touched by Him. Some needed healing while others needed deliverance. Some needed devils casted out while still some needed to be made whole. A little while later and Jesus would be carted off to the cross and many of those same people that Jesus touched were yelling, “Crucify Him,” “Crucify Him!” If you have ever been betrayed by ones you took compassion on and went out of your way for, this was the ultimate. But instead of getting upset with those who turned their backs on Him, Jesus prayed, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” After that Jesus died on the cross for all of our sins and then on the third day he rose again. Forty days later after more than five hundred people witnessed that Jesus was alive, He ascended into heaven. Many of those same people that were touched by Jesus and healed and delivered and had devils casted out and were made whole, the same people who later yelled Crucify Him, the same people Jesus prayed, “Father forgive them for they know not what they do.” Those same people ended up at a place where the apostles were and Peter was preaching. Peter told them that they crucified the Christ and they felt, “pricked in their hearts,” or convicted in their hearts and asked Peter what they should do.
“Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made the same Jesus, whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ. Now when they heard this, they were pricked in their heart, and said unto Peter and to the rest of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do?” Acts 2:36-37.
“Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.” Acts 2:38
The Death Burial & Resurrection of Jesus Christ
The death burial and resurrection is the plan to salvation. It is our first act of obedience to the Lord which enables us to enter into a relationship with Him. Just as Jesus died on the cross, was buried in the tomb and resurrected on the third day, we must do likewise. We must die in repentance, be buried in baptism and be resurrected or given life through the infilling of the Holy Spirit. You do these things because you believe on Jesus and this is you stepping out in faith and being obedient to the Lord. When you do this the Lord begins to change your heart and the promise is that he will fill you with His Spirit. When you do this you have entered into a relationship with the LORD, a covenant with the LORD and you have made a commitment to the LORD to walk in obedience to Him according to His Word. Whether or not you have received the Holy Spirit yet, you did your part and were obedient and as you begin walking with the LORD daily you wait with expectation that He will fill you according to His perfect timing. Praise God!
Thoughts…
In order to enter into a relationship with the LORD you need to repent, be baptized and seek the LORD with expectation that He will fulfill his promise and fill you with the Holy Ghost. Here are some things to consider: 1. How do I repent? 2. Is there a right way to be baptized? 3. How will I know if I received the Holy Spirit or not? These questions will be answered in subsequent posts. If you have any questions about this post or anything else, feel free to email me.
